What if the projector lamp is not good?

I have a Dukane Image Pro 8247 Projector … just bought used, and now has a red dye in the upper right quarter of the screen (projected image), and to be honest the contrast and brightness of the image are not very good … So my question is: what would be due to the lamp? I mean, is there a possibility to work better if I change the lamp? Lamp is expensive, so do not buy, if not going to solve the problem.

Lamps in general, just are not very clear (or can be left open or even explode), but should not uneven brightness or color significant lack of uniformity. The lack of brightness may be due to aging in a light bulb, and the contrast of the poor may simply be a characteristic the projector (not more than 400:1 nominal (though low, that a rating may be valid but many new projectors that have inflated the ratings!). It's hard to say, but the red tint problem sounds like a panel rather than a question of the lamp. Was it a drop or jar? Perhaps one of the panels has moved slightly .. which could provide a focus / convergence problems. On the other hand it might be a group is starting to "go." Really do not know suggest. If there is a usage count of the lamp which gives an idea of the life of the lamp. A new lamp should certainly give brightness (2,000 lumens number you should have plenty of brightness with a good lamp!), but the issue is not really red dye users can fix and I suspect to call the service can be costly. Given the cost a new lamp and a service call can not be worth … especially considering a new projector with better specifications can be purchased for $ 1,000 or less.
