The interchangeability between brands of projector lamps?

I have a Sharp Notevision projector model XQ-P10XU the lamp is getting a hours and I'm looking for a replacement and the cheapest I've found is about $ 400. There must be a spare bulb is cheaper than this or one of a different brand that fits and last the same time but I can not seem to find it. I do not mind having to spend much on a lamp if this would last from 3000 to 5000 hours, just can not see spending $ 400 on a 1200hr lamp when the projector lamp others are cheaper and last twice as long as this. This projector is 5 to 8 years old and I've only had for almost 2 months and the lamp life of 700 hours has passed 900hrs. Is there a way to prolong the life of the lamp under normal conditions with cooling fans or anything of that nature? Any help is greatly appreciated.

About the only thing you can do to expand lifeon yuor lamp is to make sure you have it in Econo Mode and turn off the pj correctly every time. As for brands on the market after going there's really nothing out there for this particular model so it may be time to get a new one. I checked this model and is really more of a business pj with high light, but really low ratio contrast. Moreover, only native resolution 1024 X 768 or even true 720p HD. These days you can find an impressive 720 for about $ 800 or SD better one than this for $ 500 – $ 600. Weeder
