
All new Pontiac G8 to unleash in 2008
Although the 2008 Pontiac G8 will be available in dealerships early next year, Pontiac introduced its new, performance rear-wheel-drive sedan in the Chicago Auto Show.
As the first North American application of General Motors (GM) new global architecture for rear-wheel drive traction, the G8 has been developed by GM's Australian subsidiary Holden.
The G8 has a hairdresser as a package dual-port grille, fog lamps, bold wheels and a confident, wheels-in corner position. The design accentuates the race car performance, with the defenses that flare over the wheels, seemingly hugging the wide tires, which is very sporty.
Distinctive elements include hood scoops and vents front fender and headlamp lights located in the crystalline lens. Joya tail lights, as found in the rear. These are mounted in boxes and feature bright detail work surrounding the lighting elements in red. G8 models have red tail lamp lenses and dual chrome exhaust outlets. In the back of the roof, all models have an antenna mounted.
In its power train,
the base model of the G-8 has a 3.6-liter V-6 DOHC with variable valve timing. Classified in 261 hp (194 kW), which is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode.
Together to give the G8 a confident, driving experience are the sharp 114.8 inches (2915 mm) wheelbase, 62.7 inches / 1592 mm wide and 63.3 inches front / rear track 1608 mm. These give a fully adjustable four-wheel independent suspension system.
In the rear, the system of four-wheel independent suspension has MacPherson strut design in front and a four-arm coil-over shock design. Tuning uses a front stabilizer bar, direct action, coupled rear stabilizer bar and lateral ball joints on the rear suspension. This system goes beyond lateral rigidity for better handling.
Suspension front wheel is fully adjustable, tilt and toe while the rear has adjustable tilt and toe, which allows for greater accuracy, set suspension of the measure.
When starting the engine, Brand said the Pontiac Exhaust gases are released without any problems, so it is more comfortable for the driver, and people outside the car while breathing in the gases exhausted.
As your system disc brakes on all four wheels, the car has standard antilock and traction control functions. The system is associated with a standard electronic stability control. Its features ventilated discs front and rear disc with dual piston calipers on the front alloy. Brakes have rear calipers with single-piston alloy drive.
The interior of the G-8 offers both comfort and convenience, packaged in a level of sophistication not often found in other vehicles in its price range. A driver-oriented group the positions of the line measuring instruments easy, direct the hearing. Between large, round tachometer and speedometer, an information center for the driver is electronic.
Care recipient details are included jewel-like instruments, selective use of satin and chrome trim and rich textures feel, long grain. The instrument cluster glows with crisp. While white light primary instruments and Pontiac's signature red lighting illuminates the rest of the instrument panel.
The seats offer firm support to keep passengers and occupants in place aggressive cornering. As one option, G-8 models will also offer two-tone cloth or leather combination that pairs black with color inserts red or blue and coincides with a color-instrument faces on certain exterior color combinations.
With a brand new Pontiac exhaust system, the G8 uses 362-horsepower (270 kW) 6.0L V-8 engine and optional six-speed transmission manual.
Pontiac General Manager John Larson said the company's commitment to its performance DNA shown in the balance of the rear wheel drive and available V-8 power in the G8. He said they expect this vehicle to be very competitive in the segment to which it belongs, even against cars that cost much more expensive.
